The Orlando Citrus Bowl stadium kicks off each season with its an annual Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day. This match-up between the top teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference, is college football's premier non-BCS bowl game. Since 2001, Monster Jam has revved up Orlando with its live, motorsports competition featuring some of America's favorite monster trucks and consistently plays to capacity crowds.

The fall season introduces the MEAC/SWAC Challenge. This annual football challenge showcases a team from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Since 1925, the Florida Classic game has served as the annual matchup between historic rivals, Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University. Each December, the Citrus Bowl hosts the Florida High School Athletic Association’s (FHSAA )football championships. This playoff series features the state's top-performing high school football teams. The Orlando Citrus Bowl concludes the year with the Russell Athletic Bowl, which features top teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference.
