AMWAY
ARENA
The
Amway Arena, home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic
and the Arena Football’s Orlando Predators,
was designed to comfortably seat everything from 17,000
screaming NBA All-Star Game fans, to a few thousand
jazz aficionados. First and second level seating combined
with a state-of-the-art retractable stage
curtain, allows the Amway Arena maximum flexibility
for a diverse range of concerts and events.
Originally known as the Orlando Arena, the Amway Arena
had its grand opening in January of 1989 when it presented
an inaugural performance by legendary comedian Bill
Cosby. Since its opening, the arena has played host
to scores of iconic entertainers like Jimmy Buffett,
Elton John, Billy Joel, Cher, Neil Diamond, Bruce
Springsteen, Aerosmith and a host of other legendary
performers.
The Amway Arena serves as a perfect venue for many
events, and live concerts are only one of them. Family-friendly
shows like Disney on Ice, Ringling Bros. and Barnum
and Bailey’s, Mannheim Steamroller and Blue
Man Group are also consistently offered to patrons.
There’s something for everyone at the arena!
In February 2000 the arena became known as TD Waterhouse
Centre, as part of a naming rights agreement orchestrated
by the Orlando Magic. The name changed again in 2006
to the Amway Arena, once the previous naming rights
contract had expired.
Today the Amway Arena exists as one of Orlando’s
most recognizable and popular sports and entertainment
venues.
